Little children

Wow! It's been a long time since I last posted. July was a crazy month - good, but crazy! We had a special 4th of July service on July 3; I preached Sunday nights July 10 and July 17; Jill and I signed a contract on a new house; and our church conducted VBS the last week! So, unfortunately, my blog took a back seat to all the rest of my responsibilities. However, I'm back in the saddle, and I hope to post regularly again.

So, I'm not the kind of person to randomly take a Bible verse or two and draw applications apart from their context. However, I was reading my Bible this morning, and a verse just stuck in my head. It was Mark 9:36.

He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them,

As I was reading, this thought just kept swirling around in my head, "How awesome would it have been to be that child Jesus wrapped up in His arms?!?!?"

But that led me to ponder some more. And in all reality, we ARE that child. We may not be physically that child, but if we have committed our lives to Jesus, we are a child of The King. John 1:12 says, "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—." I am a "child" that Jesus wraps up in His arms. I can rest securely and experience the deep love that God has for me through the warm embrace of my Savior.

I'm choosing to live today "being hugged" by Jesus!
