Running, Day 4

So, truthfully, this day was both easier and challenging. I do my runs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So day 4 was on a Monday, with obviously 2 days since my last run.

In addition to the rest factor that I had to overcome, the program that I'm following to help me build endurance to be able to run 30 minutes non-stop just incremented the run times. In stead of 8, 1-minute run intervals (with 1.5 minutes walking inbetween,) now there were 7, 1.5 minute runs with 2 minute walks.

The first running interval was a challenge just to get the body back into the frame of exercise. But that quickly wore off, and the remaining workout was not that challenging. However, the very last 1.5 minutes of running was VERY difficult for me. I had to really mentally push myself to keep putting one foot in front of another while constantly thinking, "it's almost done. It's almost done. It's almost done."

Have you ever struggled with something like that spiritually? I know I have. You get into a situation, and after the initial challenge, you sort-of settle into a pattern. But after awhile, you start feeling the toll on your spirit and emotions. And it takes everything inside you to just keep pushing forward.

You may be facing a challenge like that today. Let me encourage you to persevere. The rewards may not come in this life, but a sense of accomplishment for just sticking with it can do wonders for the soul.
